Inspection Procedure 3: Front high voltage system

danger
noteWhen measuring the insulation resistance, set the range of the special tool electric insulation tester (MB992355) to 1,000 V.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of the drive battery front cable
  • The A/C compressor oil (foreign objects are mixed or deteriorated quality)
  • Malfunction of the electric A/C compressor
  • Malfunction of the power drive unit

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
  • MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
  • MB992355: Electric insulation tester
1.Insulation resistance check of drive battery front cable
(1) Disconnect the drive battery front cable from the power drive unit, and measure the insulation resistance at the cable side.

+ terminal– terminalNormal condition
Drive battery front cable P terminalBody ground10 MΩ or more
Drive battery front cable N terminal
Is the check result normal?
Replace the drive battery front cable (Refer to DRIVE BATTERY CABLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).

2.Insulation resistance check of electric A/C compressor
Check the insulation resistance of the electric A/C compressor (Refer to CHECK ON INSULATION RESISTANCE OF A/C COMPRESSOR).
Is the check result normal?
Replace the faulty part.

3.Insulation resistance check of power drive unit
Check the insulation resistance of the power drive unit (Refer to CHECK ON INSULATION RESISTANCE OF POWER DRIVE UNIT).
Is the check result normal?
Replace the power drive unit (Refer to POWER DRIVE UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).

4.Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Perform the "Inspection procedures when BMU P0AA6-00: Insulation Resistance Drop Detection Diagnosis is set." again (Refer to DIAGNOSIS CHART FOR DTC No. P0AA6-00).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS).
