CHECK ON INSULATION RESISTANCE OF POWER DRIVE UNIT

When servicing the high voltage components, be sure to remove the service plug in order to shut off the high voltage (Refer to PRECAUTIONS ON HOW TO USE THE HIGH-VOLTAGE VEHICLE).
When servicing the high voltage components, be sure to wear an insulating protective equipment to measure the high voltage (Refer to PRECAUTIONS ON HOW TO USE THE HIGH-VOLTAGE VEHICLE).

The insulation resistance check must be completed within 10 seconds. (Since DC 1,000 V is applied while checking, parts may be damaged if the check continues for 10 seconds or more.)

Required Special Tools:

MB991223: Wiring harness set
MB992006: Extra fine probe
MB992355: Electric insulation tester

1. Remove the power drive unit cover.

2. Remove the service lid on the power drive unit.

3. Disconnect the following cables from the power drive unit.

Front motor cable
Generator cable
Drive battery front cable
A/C compressor cable

4. Use the electric insulation tester (Special tool: MB992355) and set it to the 1,000 V range.

5. Measure the insulation resistance between the power drive unit high voltage terminals (10 locations) and power drive unit (body ground).

Standard value: 10 MΩ or more

6. If the measured value is not within the standard value, replace the power drive unit.
