DTC Diagnosis Procedure
1.
CHECK DTC PRIORITY
If DTC P1217 is displayed with DTC UXXXX or P0607, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC UXXXX or P0607.
Is applicable DTC detected?
Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to
DTC Index

2.
CHECK COOLING FAN OPERATION
With M.U.T.-III SE
Turn ignition switch ON.
Perform "FAN DUTY CONTROL" in "Actuator Test" (in "Special Function") mode of "ENGINE" using M.U.T.-III SE.
Check that cooling fan speed varies according to the percentage.
Without M.U.T.-III SE
Activate IPDM E/R auto active test and check cooling fan motors operation. Refer to M.U.T.-III SE Function (IPDM E/R)
CONSULT Function (IPDM E/R)

Check that cooling fan operates.
Is the inspection result normal?

CHECK COOLING SYSTEM FOR LEAK-1
Check cooling system for leak. Refer to

Is leakage detected?

CHECK COOLING SYSTEM FOR LEAK-2

Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
5.
CHECK RADIATOR CAP
Check radiator cap. Refer to

Is the inspection result normal?

Replace radiator cap. Refer to Inspection

6.
CHECK THERMOSTAT
Check thermostat. Refer to
Removal and Installation
.
Is the inspection result normal?
.
Replace thermostat. Refer to

7.
CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Is the inspection result normal?
.
Replace engine coolant temperature sensor. Refer to

8.
OVERHEATING CAUSE ANALYSIS
If the cause cannot be isolated, Refer to
