Removal and Installation
 
 
REMOVAL
 
 
1. Remove engine under cover. Refer to Removal and Installation.
2. Drain engine coolant from radiator. Refer to Draining.
cautionPerform this step when engine is cold.
3. Remove generator. Refer to Removal and Installation.
4. Disconnect radiator hose (lower) and reservoir tank hose from engine. Refer to Removal and Installation.
5. Remove water inlet and thermostat.
  • Engine coolant leakage from cylinder block, so have a receptacle ready below.
6. Remove water pump housing with the following procedure:
  1. Remove water pump. Refer toRemoval and Installation .
  2. Remove intake manifold. Refer to Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove high pressure fuel rail protector. Refer to Removal and Installation.
  4. Remove oil cooler hose and water hoses from water pump housing.
  5. Remove water pump housing.
 
 
INSTALLATION
Note the following, and install in the reverse order of removal.
 
 
Thermostat
  1. Install the water pump housing and tighten bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown.
    cautionDo not reuse water pump housing gasket.
    Water pump housing bolts : 50 N·m (5.1 kg-m, 37 ft-lb)
  2. Install thermostat with making rubber ring groove fit to thermostat flange with the whole circumference.
  3. Install the thermostat with the jiggle valve facing upwards. The position deviation may be within the range of ±10°.
