Removal and Installation
 
 
REMOVAL
 
 
1. Remove the camshafts. Refer to Removal and Installation.Removal and Installation
2. Remove spark plugs. Refer to Removal and Installation.Removal and Installation
3. Remove the three way catalyst. Refer to Removal and Installation.Removal and Installation
4. Remove the EGR cooler bracket bolts and remove the EGR cooler and EGR cooler bracket as an assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.Removal and Installation
5. Loosen the cylinder head bolts in reverse of the order shown.
: Engine front
6. Remove cylinder head.
7. Remove cylinder head gasket.
cautionDo not reuse cylinder head gasket.
 
 
INSTALLATION
 
 
1. Clean surfaces of cylinder head and cylinder block.
2. Install a new cylinder head gasket.
cautionDo not reuse cylinder head gasket.
3. Install the cylinder head.
4. Tighten cylinder head bolts using the following procedure:
cautionIf cylinder head bolts are reused, check their outer diameters before installation. Refer to Inspection
(1) Clean threads and seating surfaces of bolts.
(2) Apply new engine oil to the threads and the seating surfaces of bolts.
(3) Tighten all cylinder head bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown.
: Engine front
Cylinder head bolts: 39.2 Nm (4.0 kg-m, 29 ft-lb)
(4) Tighten cylinder head bolts to the specified angle in the sequence shown.
cautionCheck and confirm the tightening angle by using angle wrench [KV10112100 (BT-8653-A)] (A). Do not judge angle by visual inspection.
Step 1: Tighten 75° - 80°
Step 2: Tighten 75° - 80°
5. Installation of the remaining components is in the reverse order of removal.
