Removal and Installation
 
 
REMOVAL
 
 
1. Remove the engine cover (with engine cover models). Refer to Removal and Installation.Removal and Installation
2. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose and brake booster vacuum tube from the intake manifold.
3. Remove the EGR outlet tube .
4. Remove the engine oil gauge.
5. Remove the high pressure fuel pump insulator. Refer to Removal and Installation.Removal and Installation
6. Disconnect the harness connectors from the ignition coils.
7. Remove the ignition coils.
8. Disconnect the harness clip from the rocker cover and reposition harness.
9. Remove bolt and reposition the engine cover bracket. Refer to Removal and Installation.Removal and Installation.
10. Remove the PCV hose and blow-by hose from the rocker cover.
11. Loosen the rocker cover bolts in reverse of the sequence shown.
12. Remove the rocker cover and rocker cover gasket.
caution
  • Do not reuse rocker cover gasket.
  • Do not drop or shock rocker cover.
  • Discard any rocker cover which has been dropped or shocked.
13. Remove the oil filler cap if necessary.
14. Remove the PCV valve if necessary.
cautionDo not reuse O-ring.
 
 
INSTALLATION
 
 
1. Apply liquid gasket to the positions shown.
: Cylinder head
C: 10 mm (0.39 in)
: Camshaft bracket
2. Install rocker cover gasket to rocker cover.
caution
  • Do not reuse rocker cover gasket.
  • Do not drop or shock rocker cover.
  • Discard any rocker cover which has been dropped or shocked.
noteMake sure rocker cover gasket is securely installed in the groove in the rocker cover.
3. Install the rocker cover and tighten the bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown.
Step 1: 1.96 N·m (0.20 kg-m, 17 in-lb)
Step 2: 8.33 N·m (0.85 kg-m, 74 in-lb)
4. Installation of the remaining components is in the reverse order of removal.
