Removal and Installation
 
 
The following bolts and screws are used for installing the instrument panel. Bolts and screws are indicated as marks shown in the illustration in the sections of "Removal and Installation" and "Disassembly and Assembly."

caution
  • Before removal and installation of the SRS components, refer to RESTRAINTS – SRS AIRBAG – PRECAUTION – PRECAUTIONS, Driver knee air bag module Removal and Installation and Passenger air bag module Removal and Installation.
  • Do not subject the air bag diagnosis sensor unit to any shocks when removing or installing the instrument panel.
Removal steps
1.Instrument panel hole cover <Vehicles with head up display (HUD)>
Front pillar garnish (Refer to Removal and Installation).
2.Speaker grille
Front squawker (Refer to FRONT SQUAWKER Removal and Installation).
Center ventilator finisher assembly (Refer to Removal and Installation).
AVAS control unit (Refer to Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System [AVAS] Removal and Installation)
Center console (Refer to Removal and Installation).
Combination meter assembly (Refer to Combination meter Removal and Installation).
Instrument lower center cover (Refer to Removal and Installation).
Driver knee air bag module (Refer to DRIVER KNEE AIR BAG MODULE Removal and Installation).
Instrument panel center cover assembly and defroster garnish (Refer to Removal and Installation).
Passenger air bag module connection (Refer to PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE Removal and Installation).
Keyless operation key unit (Refer to Keyless Operation Key Unit REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
Steering column assembly mounting bolts (Refer to STEERING COLUMN Removal and Installation).

REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS
 
 
<<A>> SPEAKER GRILLE REMOVAL
Remove the clips shown in the illustration using special tool MB990784.
 
 
 
<<B>> INSTRUMENT PANEL REMOVAL
When removing the screws on both sides of the instrument panel assembly, use a normal plate-type ratchet driver instead of a screwdriver, because there is only a small space for removing the screws.
