DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
  • MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
1.Service plug check
Check the service plug (Refer to SERVICE PLUG CHECK).
Is the check result normal?
Replace the service plug.

2.Rear interlock connector check
Check the rear interlock connector (Refer to REAR INTERLOCK CONNECTOR CHECK).
Is the check result normal?
Replace the rear interlock connector.

3.Check of continuity at drive battery connector (control wiring harness connector)
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Check the following for continuity.
  • Continuity between the drive battery connector (control wiring harness connector) (terminal No. 24) and drive battery connector (control wiring harness connector) (terminal No. 19)
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

4.Check of drive battery front cable interlock circuit
(1) Disconnect the drive battery front cable from the drive battery, and measure at the cable side.
(2) Check the following for continuity.
  • Continuity between the interlock terminals (upper and lower terminals) of the drive battery front cable connector
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Replace the drive battery front cable (Refer to DRIVE BATTERY CABLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).

5.Check of drive battery rear cable (junction box) interlock circuit
(1) Disconnect the drive battery rear cable (junction box) from the drive battery, and measure at the cable side.
(2) Check the following for continuity.
  • Continuity between the interlock terminals (upper and lower terminals) of the drive battery rear cable (junction box) connector
OK: Continuity exixts (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Replace the drive battery rear cable (junction box) (Refer to DRIVE BATTERY CABLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).

6.Check of drive battery engagement detection circuit
Check the drive battery engagement detection circuit (Refer to ENGAGEMENT DETECTION CIRCUIT CHECK (INSIDE OF DRIVE BATTERY)) .
Is the check result normal?
Disassemble the drive battery (Refer to SERVICE PROCEDURE).After the disassembly, repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

7.Check whether the DTC is set again.
(1) Erase the DTC set in the BMU2.
(2) Erase the DTC set in the BMU.
(3) Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON (READY indicator: ON).
(4) Wait for 1 minute or more.
(5) Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS).

8.Drive battery control wiring harness check (output side engagement detection line)
(1) Disassemble the drive battery (Refer to SERVICE PROCEDURE).
(2) Check the continuity for the following wiring harnesses.
  • Between the BMU connector (terminal No. 8) and the drive battery connector (control wiring harness connector) (terminal No. 24)
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

9.Drive battery control wiring harness check (input side engagement detection line)
(1) Check the continuity for the following wiring harnesses.
  • Between the BMU connector (terminal No. 6) and the service plug connector (terminal No. 1)
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
