CIRCUIT OPERATION
- The canister pressure sensor is built into the Evaporative Leak Check Module (ELCM).
- A power voltage of 5 volts is applied to the ELCM connector terminal number 7 from the ECM connector terminal number 97.
- The power voltage is grounded to the ECM connector terminal number 117 from the ELCM connector terminal number 5.
- The signal voltage according to the pressure inside the evaporative emission canister (main) is output to the ECM connector terminal number 107 from the ELCM connector terminal number 6.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
- To determine whether the canister pressure sensor is defective, the ECM monitors the canister pressure sensor output voltage.
- The ECM judges if the canister pressure sensor output voltage is normal.
DESCRIPTIONS OF MONITOR METHODS
Canister pressure sensor output voltage is out of specified range.
MONITOR EXECUTION
Continuous.
MONITOR EXECUTION CONDITIONS (OTHER MONITOR AND SENSOR)
Other Monitor (There is no temporary DTC set in memory for the item monitored below)
Sensor (The sensors below are determined to be normal)
DTC SET CONDITIONS
Check Conditions
- Power supply mode of electric motor switch is ON.
- 12V battery positive voltage is between 10.0 and 16.5 volts.
Judgment Criterion
- Canister pressure sensor output voltage is lower than 0.1 volt for 2 seconds.
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
None.
OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (THE MOST LIKELY CAUSES FOR THIS CODE TO BE SET ARE:)
- Canister pressure sensor (built into the ELCM) failed.
- Shorted canister pressure sensor circuit or connector damage or loose connector contact.
- ECM failed.
