1.STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), perform the actuator test.

2.STEP 2. Check fuel filler lid lock release actuator itself.
3.STEP 3. Check fuel filler lid opener relay itself.
Check fuel filler lid opener relay itself (Refer to BODY EXTERIOR, DOORS, ROOF & VEHICLE SECURITY, Door & Lock – Removal and Installation – Fuel filler Lid – On-vehicle Service FUEL FILLER LID OPENER RELAY CHECK).Is the check result normal?
Replace the fuel filler lid opener relay.
4.STEP 4. Check harness between fuel filler lid opener relay connector terminal number 3 and ECM connector terminal number 83.
Check output line for open/short circuit and damage.Is the check result normal?
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
5.STEP 5. Check harness between fuel filler lid opener relay connector terminal number 1 and ground.
Check ground line for open circuit and damage.Is the check result normal?
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
6.STEP 6. Check harness between fuel filler lid opener relay connector terminal number 5 and IPDM E/R connector terminal number 78.
Check power supply line for open/short circuit and damage.Is the check result normal?
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
7.STEP 7. Check harness between fuel filler lid opener relay connector terminal number 4 and fuel filler lid lock release actuator connector terminal number 1.
Check output line for open/short circuit and damage.Is the check result normal?
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
8.STEP 8. Check harness between fuel filler lid lock release actuator connector terminal number 2 and ground.
Check ground line for open circuit and damage.Is the check result normal?
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
9.STEP 9. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE), check the data list.
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to check the data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE).- Item number 870: Fuel Fill Door Position Sensor Voltage
Is the check result normal?
10.STEP 10. Check fuel filler lid lock sensor itself.
11.STEP 11. Check harness between fuel filler lid lock sensor connector terminal number 4 and ECM connector terminal number 85.
Check output line for open/short circuit and damage.Is the check result normal?
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
12.STEP 12. Check harness between fuel filler lid lock sensor connector terminal number 3 and ground.
Check ground line for open circuit and damage.Is the check result normal?
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
13.STEP 13. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), perform the actuator test.
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to perform the actuator test (Refer to ACTUATOR TEST REFERENCE TABLE).- Item number 120: Fuel Filler Door Motor Relay
OK: Fuel filler lid opens
Is the check result normal?
14.STEP 14. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE), DTC recheck after erasing DTC.
After erasing the DTC, check again to see if the DTC is set again.(1) Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to erase the DTC.
(2) Turn OFF the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(3) Turn ON the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(4) Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to recheck the DTC.
Is DTC P04BF-00 set?
