DTC P0107-00: Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor circuit low input
 
 
 
 
CIRCUIT OPERATION
  • A power voltage of 5 volts is applied to the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 3 from the ECM connector terminal number 31.
  • The power voltage is grounded to the ECM connector terminal number 41 from the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 2.
  • The sensor signal is inputted to the ECM connector terminal number 42 from the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 1.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
  • The manifold absolute pressure sensor outputs a voltage which corresponds to the intake manifold pressure.
  • The ECM checks whether this voltage is within a specified range.

Check Conditions
  • Volumetric efficiency is 20 percent or higher.
  • More than 8 minutes have passed since the engine starting sequence was completed, when the engine coolant temperature at engine start is 0°C (32°F) or lower.
    or
  • More than 2 seconds have passed since the key-off evaporative leakage monitoring was started.
  • Engine coolant temperature is higher than 5°C (41°F).
Judgment Criterion
  • Manifold absolute pressure sensor output voltage has continued to be lower than 0.2 volt [corresponding to a manifold absolute pressure of 5 kPa (1.5 in.Hg)] for 2 seconds.
 
 
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
Carry out the fuel control by estimating the intake manifold pressure from throttle opening degree and a normal sensor.
 
 
OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN
Refer to Diagnostic Function, OBD-II Drive Cycle – Pattern 1 OBD- II DRIVE CYCLE.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are:)
  • Manifold absolute pressure sensor failed.
  • Open or shorted manifold absolute pressure sensor circuit, harness damage or connector damage.
  • ECM failed.
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
  • MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
  • MB991709: Test harness
1.STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE), check the data list.
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to check the data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE).
  • Item number 70: Boost Sensor
Q: Is the check result normal?
 
2.STEP 2. Perform voltage measurement at manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 3.
  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Power supply mode of electric motor switch: ON
  • Voltage between manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 3 and ground.
OK: 4.9 to 5.1 volts

3.STEP 3. Check harness between manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 3 and ECM connector terminal number 31.
Check power supply line for open/short circuit.
Q: Is the check result normal?
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
 
4.STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE), check the data list.
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to check the data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE).
  • Item number 70: Boost Sensor
Q: Is the check result normal?
 
5.STEP 5. Check harness between manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 3 and ECM connector terminal number 31.
Check power supply line for open/short circuit.
Q: Is the check result normal?
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
 
6.STEP 6. Perform voltage measurement at manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 1.
  • Use special tool test harness (MB991709) to connect connector, and measure at pick-up harness.
  • Power supply mode of electric motor switch: ON
  • Voltage between manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 1 and ground.
OK:
  • Altitude 0 m (0 ft.): 3.8 to 4.2 volts
  • Altitude 600 m (1,969 ft.): 3.5 to 3.9 volts
  • Altitude 1,200 m (3,937 ft.): 3.3 to 3.7 volts
  • Altitude 1,800 m (5,906 ft.): 3.0 to 3.4 volts

7.STEP 7. Check harness between manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 1 and ECM connector terminal number 42.
Check output line for short circuit.
Q: Is the check result normal?
Replace the manifold absolute pressure sensor (Refer to ENGINE, Intake and Exhaust – Intake Manifold INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
Repair or replace the connector, or repair the damaged harness wire.
 
8.STEP 8. Check harness between manifold absolute pressure sensor connector terminal number 1 and ECM connector terminal number 42.
Check output line for damage.

9.STEP 9. Test the OBD-II drive cycle.
After erasing the DTC, carry out test drive with the drive cycle pattern, and recheck the DTC.
(1) Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to erase the DTC.
(2) Carry out test drive with the drive cycle pattern (Refer to Diagnostic Function, OBD-II Drive Cycle – Pattern 1 OBD- II DRIVE CYCLE).
(3) Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to recheck the DTC.
