DTC B1A24: Transponder ID not registered
 
 
caution
  • When DTC No. B1A24 is set, be sure to diagnose the CAN bus line.
  • When replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.
 
 
DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
The ETACS-ECU sets DTC No. B1A24 when an ignition key ID is not registered in the ETACS-ECU, or the key, which has been registered in another vehicle, is operated.
 
 
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
The ETACS-ECU sets a DTC when the ignition key ID is not registered in the ETACS-ECU or the key has been registered in another vehicle.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The CAN bus line may be defective
  • Key ID not registered
  • Key is registered to another vehicle
  • The ETACS-ECU may be defective
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), diagnose the CAN bus line
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III) ."
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3) Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
Go to Step 2
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Diagnosis ).
 
STEP 2. Register the key.
Register the key ID, which the DTC indicates.
Has the key been registered successfully?
Go to Step 3
Go to Step 4
 
STEP 3. Recheck the diagnostic trouble code.
(1) Clear the DTC.
(2) Remove the ignition key from the cylinder and then insert the ignition key again.
(3) Wait for a few seconds and then turn the ignition ON.
(4) Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the ETACS-ECU (Refer to ) and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
The diagnosis is complete.
 
STEP 4. Replace the key with a new one, and recheck for the diagnostic trouble code.
Replace the key, which the DTC indicates, with a new one. Register the key ID for the new one. Then recheck for the DTC.
(1) Replace the ignition key, which the DTC indicates, with a new one. Then register it.
(2) Clear the DTC.
(3) Remove the ignition key from the cylinder and then insert the ignition key again.
(4) Wait for a few seconds, and then turn the ignition ON.
(5) Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the ETACS-ECU (Refer to ) and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
The diagnosis is complete.
