DTC No. C1628: Electronic controlled coupling solenoid current fails

OPERATION
The AWD-ECU monitors the current value of the electronic control coupling solenoid.

DTC SET CONDITIONS
This DTC is set when the abnormality below is detected:
  • Commanded current to the electronic control coupling does not correspond with the monitored current value.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of electronic control coupling solenoid
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of AWD-ECU

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Measure the resistance at the AWD-ECU connector.
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Resistance between AWD-ECU connector terminal SOL+, SOL- and body ground
OK: No continuity
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the wiring harness between electronic control coupling solenoid connector and AWD-ECU connector terminal SOL+, SOL-.
Check the power supply or ground line for short circuit.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the defective connector or the wiring harness.

STEP 3. Check of the electronic control coupling solenoid
Refer to .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the electronic control coupling (Refer to ).

STEP 4. Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is DTC No.C1628 set?
Replace the AWD-ECU (Refer to ). Then go to Step 5.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 5. Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is DTC No.C1628 set?
Return to Step 1.
This diagnosis is complete.
