STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, diagnose the CAN bus lines.
STEP 2. Diagnostic trouble code recheck after resetting CAN bus lines
STEP 3. Using scan tool MB991958, DTC check.
STEP 4. Check whether the wheel speed sensors are installed properly.
STEP 5. Check the wheel speed sensor.
STEP 6. Check for wheel bearing looseness
STEP 7. Check of wheel speed detection encoder
STEP 8. Measure the voltage at the ASC-ECU connector.
(1) Connector check: ASC-ECU connector and wheel speed sensor connectors
(2) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(3) Ignition switch: "ON"
(4) Measure the voltage between the power supply terminal as well as signal terminal of each wheel speed sensor circuit and body ground. | Diagnostic trouble code No. | Checking terminal | Power supply terminal | Signal terminal | C1201 | FR+ | FR- | C1206 | FL+ | FL- | C1211 | RR+ | RR- | C1216 | RL+ | RL- |
|
OK: 1 V or less

STEP 11. Check the wiring harness wires between the ASC-ECU connector FR (+) or FR (-) terminal and the front wheel speed sensor (RH) connector terminal.
STEP 12. Check the wiring harness wires between the ASC-ECU connector FL (+) or FL (-) terminal and the front wheel speed sensor (LH) connector terminal.
STEP 13. Check the wiring harness wires between the ASC-ECU connector RR (+) or RR (-) terminal and the rear wheel speed sensor (RH) connector terminal.
STEP 14. Check the wiring harness wires between ASC-ECU connector RL (+) or RL (-) terminal and the rear wheel speed sensor (LH) connector terminal.
STEP 15. Diagnostic trouble code recheck
Check again if the diagnostic trouble code is stored.(1) Erase the diagnostic trouble code.
(2) Ignition switch: LOCK (OFF) position to ON
(3) Drive the vehicle until the vehicles speed reaches 20 km/h.
Is diagnostic trouble code No. C1201, C1206, C1211 or C1216 stored?
Replace the wheel speed sensor (Refer to ). Then go to Step 16. The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
STEP 16.
Replace the hydraulic unit (integrated with ASC-ECU). (Refer to .) This diagnosis is complete.
