B2445-9F Electric Water Pump for Climate System Stuck
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the CAN bus lines is normal.
 
 
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
Check Condition
  • The power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON) or the drive battery is being charged.
Judgment Criterion
  • Failure in the heater water pump is detected
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of HECM system
  • Malfunction of engine coolant
  • Air mixing inside the heater water pump
  • Malfunction of fuse No.7
  • Malfunction of harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of heater water pump
  • Malfunction of PHEV A/C amp.
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
1.M.U.T.-III SE other DTC
Check whether the DTC related to EGR system, ENGINE COOLING. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART.
Is the DTC set?
Troubleshoot the set DTCs.
 
2.Check the engine coolant
(1) Check for engine coolant leaks. Refer to ENGINE COOLANT LEAK CHECK.
(2) Check the amount and concentration of engine coolant. Refer to ENGINE COOLANT CONCENTRATION CHECK.
Is the inspection result normal?
Repair or replace the root cause. Refer to ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT.
 
3.Air inclusion check
(1) Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON (READY indicator: ON).
(2) Start the engine and perform racing for 1 minute to advance the gas-liquid replacement.
(3) Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is DTC No. B2445-9F changed to past trouble from current trouble?
If there is a DTC that is currently out of order other than B2445-9F, check the DTC.If there is no currently failed DTC other than B2445-9F, delete the DTC and end the inspection.
 
4.Voltage measurement at heater water pump connector (terminal No.3)
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON (READY indicator: ON).
(3) Measure the voltage between the heater water pump connector (terminal No.3) and body ground.
OK : Battery power supply
Is the inspection result normal?
 
5.Check the fuse No.7
Is the fuse in good condition?
Repair the harness or connector between the heater water pump (terminal No.3) and the body ground.
Replace the fuse
 
6.Check of open circuit between heater water pump connector (terminal No.1) and body ground.
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON (READY indicator: ON).
(3) Measure the voltage between the heater water pump connector (terminal No.1) and body ground.
OK : Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the inspection result normal?
Repair harness or connector.
 
7.Check of open/short to ground circuit in WP line between PHEV A/C amp. and heater water pump
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Check the continuity between the PHEV A/C amp. connector (WP terminal) and body ground.
OK : No continuity
(3) Check the continuity between the PHEV A/C amp. connector (WP terminal) and heater water pump.
OK : Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the inspection result normal?
Repair harness or connector.
 
8.M.U.T.-III SE Actuator Test
Execute the actuator test below.Check if the heater water pump normal operation. Refer to ACTUATOR TEST REFERENCE TABLE.
Item No. 3: Electric Water Pump Operation Test
noteThe actuator test should be performed for at least 20 seconds.
Is the inspection result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction. Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS.
Replace heater water pump. Refer to Removal and Installation. Then
 
9.Check whether the DTC is set again.
(1) Erase the set DTC.
(2) Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF.
(3) Wait for 2 minutes or more in key lock condition. (Check that the P indicator on the selector lever turns off.)
(4) Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON (READY indicator: ON).
(5) Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Replace PHEV A/C amp. Refer to Removal and Installation.
