Diagnosis Procedure
1.CHECK 12V BATTERY
  1. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  2. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  3. Check the connection of the 12V battery terminal. Refer to Precautions for Removing Battery Terminal. Refer to Work Flow.
  4. Check the 12V battery (Refer to Work Flow).
Is the inspection result normal?
Repair / replace harness or connector, securely lock the connector.
 
2.Self-diagnosis
M.U.T.-III SE
  1. Connect the 12V battery terminal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  2. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  3. Repeat Step 2 twice or more.
    cautionWait for 5 seconds or more after the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is changed to OFF.
  4. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  5. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  6. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  7. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then erase the DTC set in "EBA".
  8. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  9. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  10. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  11. Depress the brake pedal 100 mm (3.9in) or more, the keep that state for 5 seconds or more.
  12. Release the brake pedal.
  13. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then perform the self-diagnosis of "EBA".
Is DTC “C18D6-09” detected?
INSPECTION END
 
3.Checking connector terminal
  1. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  2. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  3. Check the connection of the 12V battery terminal. Refer to Precautions for Removing Battery Terminal.
  4. Disconnect the electric driven intelligent brake unit wiring harness connector, and check that the pin terminal and its connection is normal.
  5. Disconnect the Brake power backup unit wiring harness connector, and check that the pin terminal and its connection is normal.
Is the inspection result normal?
Repair / replace harness or connector, securely lock the connector.
 
4.Self-diagnosis
M.U.T.-III SE
  1. Connect the 12V battery terminal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  2. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  3. Repeat Step 2 twice or more.
    cautionWait for 5 seconds or more after the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is changed to OFF.
  4. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  5. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  6. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  7. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then erase the DTC set in "EBA".
  8. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  9. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.

  10. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  11. Depress the brake pedal 100 mm (3.9in) or more, the keep that state for 5 seconds or more.
  12. Release the brake pedal.
  13. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then perform the self-diagnosis of "EBA".
Is DTC “C18D6-09” detected?

5.Checking 12V battery power supply
  1. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  2. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Refer to Precautions for Removing Battery Terminal.
  4. Disconnect the electric driven intelligent brake unit wiring harness connector.
  5. Connect the battery negative terminal.
  6. Measure the voltage between the following terminals of the electric driven intelligent brake unit wiring harness connector.

  7. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON (READY indicator: OFF).
  8. Measure the voltage between the following terminals of the electric driven intelligent brake unit wiring harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?
 
6.Checking 12V battery power supply
  1. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  2. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to Precautions for Removing Battery Terminal.
  4. Check the 50 A fusible link (No. 26).
  5. Check the continuity and short circuit between the electric driven intelligent brake unit wiring harness connector (terminal No. 26) and the 50 A fusible link (No. 26).
  6. Check the 10 A fuse (No. 42).
  7. Check the continuity and short circuit between the electric driven intelligent brake unit wiring harness connector (terminal No. 7) and the 10 A fuse (No. 42).
Is the inspection result normal?
Diagnose the 12V battery power supply. Refer to POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM.
Repair / replace harness or connector, securely lock the connector.
 
7.Self-diagnosis
M.U.T.-III SE
  1. Connect the 12V battery terminal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  2. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  3. Repeat Step 2 twice or more.
    cautionWait for 5 seconds or more after the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is changed to OFF.
  4. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  5. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  6. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  7. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then erase the DTC set in "EBA".
  8. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  9. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  10. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  11. Depress the brake pedal 100 mm (3.9in) or more, the keep that state for 5 seconds or more.
  12. Release the brake pedal.
  13. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then perform the self-diagnosis of "EBA".
Is DTC “C18D6-09” detected?

8.Checking ground
  1. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  2. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Refer to Precautions for Removing Battery Terminal.
  4. Disconnect the electric driven intelligent brake unit wiring harness connector.
  5. Check the continuity between the electric driven intelligent brake unit and body ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

9.Self-diagnosis
M.U.T.-III SE
  1. Connect the 12V battery terminal.

  2. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  3. Repeat Step 2 twice or more.
    cautionWait for 5 seconds or more after the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is changed to OFF.
  4. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  5. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  6. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  7. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then erase the DTC set in "EBA".
  8. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  9. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  10. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  11. Depress the brake pedal 100 mm (3.9in) or more, the keep that state for 5 seconds or more.
  12. Release the brake pedal.
  13. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then perform the self-diagnosis of "EBA".
Is DTC “C18D6-09” detected?

10.Check data monitor
M.U.T.-III SE
  1. Connect the electric driven intelligent brake unit wiring harness connector.
  2. Connect the battery negative terminal.
  3. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  4. Repeat Step 3 twice or more.
    cautionWait for 5 seconds or more after the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is changed to OFF.
  5. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then select "EBA" and "Data List" in order.
  6. Check "iB Power Supply Battery" and "iB Power Supply ECU". Refer to (Reference Value).
Is the inspection result normal?
Replace the electric driven intelligent brake unit. Refer to Removal and installation.
 
11.Self-diagnosis
M.U.T.-III SE
  1. Connect the 12V battery terminal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  2. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  3. Repeat Step 2 twice or more.
    cautionWait for 5 seconds or more after the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is changed to OFF.
  4. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  5. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  6. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  7. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then erase the DTC set in "EBA".
  8. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  9. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  10. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
    cautionDo not set the vehicle to the READY status.
  11. Depress the brake pedal 100 mm (3.9in) or more, the keep that state for 5 seconds or more.
  12. Release the brake pedal.
  13. Start the M.U.T.-III SE, then perform the self-diagnosis of "EBA".
Is DTC “C18D6-09” detected?

12.Checking brake power backup unit circuit
  1. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  2. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Refer to Precautions for Removing Battery Terminal.
  4. Disconnect the electric driven intelligent brake unit wiring harness connector.
  5. Disconnect the brake power backup unit wiring harness connector.
  6. Check the continuity between the electric driven intelligent brake unit and the brake power backup unit.

13.Checking power supply to brake power backup unit circuit
  1. Connect the battery negative terminal.
  2. Check the voltage between the brake power backup unit and body ground.

14.Checking power supply to brake power backup unit circuit
  1. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, then disconnect the M.U.T.-III SE from the data link connector.
  2. Close all the doors including the back door, then confirm that the room light turns off and wait for 3 minutes or more outside the vehicle in that state.
    cautionWhile waiting, do not touch the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Refer to Precautions for Removing Battery Terminal.
  4. Check the 10 A fuse (No. 55).
  5. Check the continuity and short circuit between the brake power backup unit wiring harness connector wiring harness connector terminal No. 6 and the 10 A fusible link (No. 55).
Is the inspection result normal?
Diagnose the 12V battery power supply. Refer to POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM.
 
15.Checking brake power backup unit circuit
  1. Check the continuity between the electric driven intelligent brake unit and the brake power backup unit.
