COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the quick charging does not start and the EV charger light (charging indicator) does not illuminate or flash in green when the charger is connected to quick charger, the malfunction of the EV home & quick charger cable, PHEV-ECU, On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter or quick charger is suspected.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of the EV home & quick charger cable
  • Malfunction of the EV charger light (charging indicator)
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU
  • Malfunction of the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter
noteThe trouble may occur due to the following external factor.
• Malfunction of the quick charger

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
1.Lighting check of the EV charger light (charging indiator)
Check whether the EV charger light (charging indicator) illuminates in white when the EV charger lid is opened.
Is the check result normal?
Perform the PHEV-ECU symptom procedure No. 6 "The EV charger light (charging indicator) does not illuminate normally." (Refer to The EV charger light (charging indicator) does not illuminate normally.).

2.Visually check of the quick charge port
Visually check that there is no burnout, damage, foreign material on the quick charge port of the EV home & quick charger cable (Refer to EV HOME & QUICK CHARGER CABLE VISUAL INSPECTION).
Does the trouble symptom persist?
Replace the EV home & quick charger cable (Refer to EV HOME & QUICK CHARGER CABLE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).

3.M.U.T.-IIISE other system data list
Check the following PHEV-ECU data list.
  • Item No. 1320: Quick charger connect. judgment
OK: ON (while the quick charge connector is connected)
Is the check result normal?

4.Check of open circuit in FCCP line between the PHEV-ECU and quick charge port
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness, or replace the EV home & quick charger cable.

5.Retest the system.
Perform quick charging by using the external power supply other than the defective one.
Does the trouble symptom persist?
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to PHEV-ECU REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
Ask the user to inspect the external power supply equipment.

6.Check of the wiring harness between the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter and quick charge port.
(1) Check the following wiring harness for short to ground circuit.
  • Short to ground circuit between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (No. 2 terminal) and quick charge port connector (No. 4 terminal)
  • Short to ground circuit between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (No. 9 terminal) and quick charge port connector (No. 10 terminal)
(2) Check the following wiring harness for open circuit.
  • Open circuit between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (No. 2 terminal) and quick charge port connector (No. 4 terminal)
  • Open circuit between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (No. 9 terminal) and quick charge port connector (No. 10 terminal)
  • Open circuit between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (No. 3 terminal) and quick charge port connector (No. 6 terminal)
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness, or replace the EV home & quick charger cable.

7.Retest the system.
Perform quick charging by using the external power supply other than the defective one.
Does the trouble symptom persist?
Replace the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter (Refer to ON BOARD CHARGER (OBC) &DC-DC CONVERTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
Ask the user to inspect the external power supply equipment.
