DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
  • MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
1.Check wiring harness and connectors for damage.
Check the wiring harness and connectors in LIN1 line between PHEV-ECU connector, and power drive unit connector and electric oil pump connector for damage.
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

2.Check of continuity at PHEV-ECU connector (LIN1 terminal)
(1) Disconnect the PHEV-ECU connector (E438), and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Disconnect the power drive unit connector and electric oil pump connector.
(3) Check the following wiring harnesses for continuity.
  • Continuity between the PHEV-ECU connector (LIN1 terminal) and body ground
    OK: No continuity
  • Continuity between the PHEV-ECU connector (LIN1 terminal) and power drive unit connector (MLIN terminal)
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness in LIN1 line between the PHEV-ECU and power drive unit.

3.Electric oil pump check
(1) Disconnect the electric oil pump connector.
(2) Check whether the PHEV-ECU sets the following DTC.
  • DTC No. U1E01-87 LIN Communication Malfunction Between HEVC and INV_ME
Is the DTC set?

4.Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the electric water pump (Refer to WATER PUMP REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS).

5.Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the power drive unit (Refer to POWER DRIVE UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION), Then go to .
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS).

6.Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to PHEV-ECU REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
The procedure is complete.
