DTC P04C2-00: Fuel Fill Door Unlock Control Circuit High

CIRCUIT OPERATION
  • When the fuel filler opener switch turns ON, the ECM connector terminal number 83 sends electricity to the fuel filler lid opener relay connector terminal number 3, and the fuel filler lid opener relay turns ON.
  • MFI relay is built into the IPDM E/R.
  • Power is supplied from the MFI relay to the fuel filler lid opener relay connector terminal number 5.
  • When the fuel lid opener relay turns ON, electrical current is sent from the fuel filler lid opener relay connector terminal number 4 to the fuel filler lid release actuator connector terminal number 1.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The ECM turns on the fuel filler lid opener relay and opens the fuel filler lid by driving the fuel filler lid lock release actuator.

DTC SET CONDITIONS
Check Conditions
  • Power supply mode of electric motor switch is ON.
  • 12V battery positive voltage is more than10.0 volts and is less than 16.5 volts.
Judgment Criterion
  • Monitor for the malfunction detection in ECM is detected.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
Indicates "REFUELING SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED" on the information screen in the multi-information display.

OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN
None.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are:)
  • Fuel filler lid lock release actuator failed.
  • Fuel filler lid opener relay failed.
  • Open or shorted fuel filler lid lock release actuator circuit, harness damage or connector damage.
  • ECM failed.
note
  • When fuel filler lid is opened by fuel filler lid opener relay ON, the DTC may be set if movement of the fuel filler lid lock release actuator or the fuel filler lid is disturbed by hand etc.
  • When the refuel control mode cannot be cancelled even if fuel filler lid is closed*, it can be cancelled the refuel control mode by performing the following operations.
*: The related refuel indication on the combination meter does not disappear, the fuel tank solenoid valve does not turn off, or the power of the ECM does not turn off even if the fuel filler lid is closed.
    1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE), "Forced Refuel control completion" from special function screen is executed.
    2. 30 minutes passed after the item execution.
    3. Drive the vehicle continuously for approximately 30 seconds.
