Inspection Procedure 10: Menu operation is possible during driving.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the multivision display, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
There is a failure in the wiring harness between the vehicle speed sensor and the multivision display, the respective connector(s), the vehicle speed sensor or the multivision display.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The vehicle speed sensor may be defective
  • The multivision display may be defective
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Check the service data for multivision display.
Using the multivision display diagnosis mode, check if the "Vehicle Status" (Refer to ).
  • Perform "Vehicle Status", and then check the status of the vehicle speed signal.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. Check the speedometer.
Check whether the speedometer works normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Diagnose the combination meter (Refer to ).
 
STEP 3. Check combination meter connector C-203 and multivision display connector C-138 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Are combination meter connector C-203 and multivision display connector C-138 in good condition?
Go to Step 4.
Repair or replace the damaged component(s) (Refer to GROUP 00E, Harness Connector Inspection).
 
STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between combination meter connector C-203 (terminal 20) and multivision display connector C-138 (terminal 31)
  • Check the communication lines for open circuit and short circuit.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.
 
STEP 5. Substitute a known good multivision display, and check the trouble system.
Check that no menus are active during driving.
Is the check result normal?
The procedure is complete.
