DTC B1132 Starter circuit fail

cautionWhen replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
When a short circuit (short to power supply) of starter setting circuit system is detected, or when an error to the starter starting circuit system is judged, OSS-ECU sets DTC B1132. At the same time, OSS-ECU displays the power supply system error warning screen to the multi information display of the combination meter.

DTC SET CONDITION
Check Conditions
  • After OSS-ECU activation
Judgment Criterion
  • When the following conditions are met:
    1. When the starter setting signal is OFF, the cranking signal is received from ECM.
    2. When the starter setting signal is OFF, the ignition start signal is received from ETACS-ECU.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Damaged wiring harness or connector (short to power supply in STO line or STOE line)
  • Engine starting circuit system error (NTSW line)
  • Malfunction of ECM
  • ETACS-ECU malfunction
  • Malfunction of OSS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, check other system data list.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (MB991958), always turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (MB991958).
Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to "How to connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III) ."
(2) After performing the forced power supply output (refer to forced power supply output procedure ) "IG-ON".
(3) Check the ECM data list.
  • Item No. 79: Cranking signal (Refer to GROUP 13A - Troubleshooting, Service Data Reference Table <2.0L ENGINE> or GROUP 13C - Troubleshooting, Service Data Reference Table <2.4L ENGINE>).
(4) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to OFF.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Carry out the troubleshooting for DTC B1131. Refer to diagnostic trouble code chart .

STEP 2. Open circuit or short circuit in NTSW line between starter relay connector and ECM connector
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3.
(3) Check the ASC-ECU data list.
  • Item No. 87: Ignition switch (input value) (Refer to GROUP 35C - Troubleshooting ).
(4) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to OFF.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the ETACS-ECU.

STEP 4. Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
(Set after 10 seconds or more have elapsed since the engine switch ON) : Replace the ECM and register the VIN and key codes (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Perform VIN Writing ).
(Set within 10 seconds since the engine switch ON) : Replace the OSS-ECU and register the VIN (Refer to ).
Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
