DTC B1106 Electric compressor input voltage (low)

DTC SET CONDITION
This code is set when the low voltage abnormality (high voltage less than DC 195 volts is detected for 2 seconds) judged by the A/C compressor inverter is detected.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of high-voltage connector and wiring harness
  • Malfunction of high-voltage fuse No. 3
  • Poor connection of high-voltage fuse No. 3
  • Malfunction of A/C compressor assembly
  • Malfunction of the power drive unit (FEMCU)
  • Malfunction of the generator control unit (GCU)

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Check the high-voltage connector and wiring harness.
dangerCarry out the check on the high-voltage circuit while reading carefully the precautions on handling a high-voltage vehicle (Refer to GROUP 54Da - Precautions on how to use the high-voltage vehicle ).
dangerWear the specified protection equipment during the check.
1. Shut down the high voltage (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions before Service - Precautions on handling high-voltage vehicle ).
2. Check the A/C compressor connector.
3. Check the high-voltage fuse No. 3 connecting bolt for looseness.
4. Visually check and check the continuity of the high-voltage fuse No. 3.
5. Visually check the following high-voltage wiring harnesses for damage.
  • High-voltage wiring harness on power drive unit (FEMCU) side
  • High-voltage wiring harness on A/C compressor side
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
: Tighten or replace the high-voltage fuse No. 3.
: Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness wire(s) at the A/C compressor side. Then go to Step 4.
: Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness wire(s) at the power drive unit (FEMCU) side. Then go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the power drive unit (FEMCU) DTC set.
Check whether the power drive unit (FEMCU) related DTC P1A1B is set.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the electric motor switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn the electric motor switch from OFF position to ON position.
(3) Check the DTC is set.
(4) Turn the electric motor switch to the OFF position.
Is the DTC set?
Diagnose the power drive unit (FEMCU) [Refer to GROUP 54Db - DTC chart for electric motor control unit (EMCU) ]. Then go to Step 3.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the generator control unit (GCU) DTC set.
Check whether the generator control unit (GCU) related DTC P104D is set.
Is the DTC set?
Diagnose the generator control unit (GCU) [Refer to GROUP 54Db - DTC chart for electric motor control unit (Generator control unit) ]. Then go to Step 4.
Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
Recheck the DTC.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Electric motor switch: OFF to ON
(3) Check the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the A/C compressor assembly (Refer to ).
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
