DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the data list. <BMU>
(1) After keep the status with the power supply mode of electric motor switch is OFF for more than 70 minute, operate the electric motor switch without depressing the brake pedal and turn ON the power supply mode of electric motor switch.
noteDo not perform charging work.
(2) Check the BMU's data list (refer to ).
  • Item No.10: Module minimum temperature
  • Item No.441: PTC heater temperature sensor
  • Item No.442: BMU(SUB) temperature sensor
noteIn order to use numerical values in the following procedure, record the value of item No. 442: BMU (SUB) temperature sensor.
(3) Check the temperature difference between "Item No. 10: Module minimum temperature" and "Item No. 441: PTC heater temperature sensor".
OK: 10°C (50°F) or less
(4) Check the temperature difference between "Item No. 10: Module minimum temperature" and "Item No.442: BMU(SUB) temperature sensor".
OK: 10°C (50°F) or less
Is the check result normal?
: Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
: Go to Step 2.
: Remove the battery tray cover (Refer to ). Replace the sub-battery management unit [BMU (SUB)] (Refer to ). Then, assemble the main drive lithium-ion battery assembly (Refer to ). Then, go to Step 7.

STEP 2. Measure the voltage at the main drive lithium-ion battery connector.
(1) Disconnect the D-34 main drive lithium-ion battery connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch without depressing the brake pedal.
(3) Check the voltage between D-34 main drive lithium-ion battery connector (terminal No. 3) and body ground.
OK: 4.7 - 5.3 volts
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Measure the resistance at the BMU connector.
(1) Disconnect the BMU connector and D-34 main drive lithium-ion battery connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Check the resistance between BMU connector (HTS terminal) and body ground.
OK: No continuity
(3) Check the resistance between BMU connector (HTS terminal) and other terminal.
OK: No continuity
(4) Check the resistance between BMU connector (HTS terminal) and D-34 main drive lithium-ion battery connector (terminal No. 3).
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Replace the battery management unit (BMU) (Refer to ). Then, go to Step 7.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness. Then, go to Step 7.

STEP 4. Measure the resistance at the BMU connector (GHTS line).
(1) Disconnect the BMU connector and D-34 main drive lithium-ion battery connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Check the resistance between BMU connector (GHTS terminal) and body ground.
OK: No continuity
(3) Check the resistance between BMU connector (GHTS terminal) and other terminal.
OK: No continuity
(4) Check the resistance between BMU connector (GHTS terminal) and D-34 main drive lithium-ion battery connector (terminal No. 8).
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
