cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the communication circuit is normal.

MONITOR EXECUTION
  • Once per driving cycle

MONITOR EXECUTION CONDITIONS (Other monitor and Sensor)
Other Monitor (There is no temporary DTC set in memory for the item monitored below)
  • EV CAN monitor
  • Battery CAN monitor
  • Main drive lithium-ion battery voltage sensor circuit monitor
  • Main drive lithium-ion battery cell voltage monitor
  • Battery energy control module (sub BMU) monitor
Sensor (The sensor below is determined to be normal)
  • Main drive lithium-ion battery current sensor monitor

DTC SET CONDITIONS
Logic Flow Chart
Check Conditions
  • battery management unit (BMU) power supply voltage is 8 volts to 16 volts.
  • Time after above conditions satisfy is less than 0.52 second.
  • Main drive lithium-ion battery current is less than 1 ampere.
  • Average battery cell voltage is more than 4 volts.
  • The soaking time is more than 3,600 seconds.
Judgment Criterion
  • When the difference between the value of average battery cell voltage and the value of battery cell voltage is 0.08 volts or more
Check Conditions
  • battery management unit (BMU) power supply voltage is 8 volts to 16 volts.
  • Time after above conditions satisfy is less than 0.52 second.
  • main drive lithium-ion battery current is less than 1 ampere.
  • Average battery cell voltage is 3.85 volts to 4 volts.
  • The soaking time is more than 3,600 seconds.
Judgment Criterion
  • When the difference between the value of average battery cell voltage and the value of battery cell voltage is 0.2 volts or more.

OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN
  • Refer to OBD-II Drive Cycle - Pattern 3 .

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • Not available

PROBABLE CAUSE
  • The module (battery cell and CMU) in the main drive lithium-ion battery is failed.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the data list.
Set scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to the data list for item 30 Average cell voltage (Refer to ).
OK: 3.85 volts or more
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Normal charge the main drive lithium-ion battery. Then go to Step 3.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the data list.
(1) After keep the status with the power supply mode of electric motor switch is OFF for more than 70 minute, operate the electric motor switch without depressing the brake pedal and turn ON the power supply mode of electric motor switch.
noteDo not perform charging work.
(2) Set scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to the data list for item 31 Voltage dif. fail judgment MAX (Refer to ).
  • OK: 0.2 volt or less <In case of average cell voltage 3.85 to 4 volts>
  • OK: 0.08 volt or less <In case of average cell voltage 4 volts or more>
(3) Operate the electric motor switch and turn OFF the power supply mode of electric motor switch.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the data list <BMU>
(1) After keep the status with the power supply mode of electric motor switch is OFF, operate the electric motor switch without depressing the brake pedal and turn ON the power supply mode of electric motor switch.
noteDo not perform charging work.
(2) Check the BMU's data list (refer to ).
  • Item No.6: Minimum voltage cell ID
OK: Lowest voltage cell ID in all battery cells.
Is the check result normal?
The inspection is complete.
Remove the battery tray cover (Refer to ). Replace the module corresponding to the diagnostic trouble code being set. Then, assemble the main drive lithium-ion battery assembly (Refer to ). Then go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Test the OBD-II drive cycle.
(1) Carry out a test drive with the drive cycle pattern. Refer to OBD-II Drive Cycle - Pattern 3 .
(2) Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Retry the troubleshooting.
The inspection is complete.
