DTC U1417: Implausible coding data

cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
When the EV remote-ECU receives incorrect vehicle information from the ETACS-ECU, DTC No. U1417 will be set.

DTC SET CONDITION
The EV remote-ECU will determines that a malfunction exists when the ETACS-ECU coding data item "EV REMOTE-ECU" receives "Not present".

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The CAN bus line may be defective
  • The ETACS-ECU may be defective (you have substituted another ECU from a different vehicle, or the coding data is incorrect).
  • The EV remote-ECU may be defective

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose the CAN bus line.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn on the power supply mode.
(3) Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4) Press the electric motor switch to turn off the power supply mode.
Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ).

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the ETACS DTC.
Check if DTC is set in the ETACS-ECU.
Is the DTC set?
Diagnose the ETACS-ECU (Refer to ).
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the coding data in the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Use scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) to read out the coding data in ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions before Service - Coding Reference Table ).
(2) Check the followings:
  • "EV REMOTE-ECU" is set to a correct value ("Present").
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace with the coded ETACS-ECU (Refer to ).

STEP 4. Recheck for DTC.
Check if DTC No. U1417 is set in the EV remote-ECU.
(1) Press the electric motor switch to turn the power supply mode from "OFF" to "ON."
Is the DTC set?
Replace the EV remote-ECU (Refer to ).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
