Inspection Procedure 7: Fuel gauge does not work (the other meters work).
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the combination meter, be sure to check that the power supply circuit, ground circuit, and communication circuit are normal.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
If only the fuel gauge does not operate, the fuel pump and gauge unit or the combination meter may be defective.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The fuel pump and gauge unit may be defective
  • The combination meter may be defective
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the DTC.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Press the electric motor switch to turn on the power supply mode.
(3) Check if DTC No. B1201 is set.
Is DTC No. B1201 set?
Follow the relevant DTC procedure (Refer to ).
Go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. Fuel pump and gauge unit check
Check the fuel pump and gauge unit (Refer to ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the fuel pump and gauge unit.
 
STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.
  • Item No.89: Fuel gauge (Refer to ).
  • Item No.8A: Fuel gauge (Target) (Refer to ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the combination meter.
 
STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), perform actuator test.
  • Item No.3: Fuel gauge (Refer to ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Replace the combination meter.
 
STEP 5. Retest the system.
Check that the fuel gauge works normally.
Is the check result normal?
The procedure is complete.
Replace the combination meter.
