DTC P2530: Ignition Switch Run Position Circuit

OSS-ECU IG CIRCUIT
  • Refer to Inspection Procedure - Power Supply System and OSS-ECU (IG1) System .

CIRCUIT OPERATION
  • When the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is turned on, the power supply mode of the electric motor switch ON signal is input into the ECM terminal IGN and also into the ETACS-ECU.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
  • The ECM compares the power supply mode of the electric motor switch ON signal sent from the OSS-ECU with power supply mode of electric motor switch information sent from ETACS-ECU. The ECM checks for the abnormality.

DTC SET CONDITIONS
Check Condition
  • Power supply mode of electric motor switch: ON → OFF
Judgment Criterion
  • While the power supply mode of the electric motor switch ON signal is input into the ECM, the power supply mode of the electric motor switch information, sent from the ETACS-ECU via CAN, is turned OFF from ON. This allows the CAN to be stopped.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • None.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are:)
  • Shorted OSS-ECU IG circuit or connector damage.
  • CAN system failed.
  • ETACS-ECU failed.
  • ECM failed.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), diagnose CAN bus line.
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
(1) Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-IIISE) .
(2) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(3) Diagnose CAN bus line.
(4) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
Is the CAN bus line normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus line. Refer to GROUP 54C, Diagnosis - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table . Then go to Step 6.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
(1) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
(2) Read the ETACS-DTC.
(3) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
Is the ETACS-DTC set?
Refer to GROUP 54A, ETACS - Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart .
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of short circuit to power supply in EIG1 to IGN line between ETACS-ECU connector and ECM connector.
Is the harness wire in good condition?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness. Then to go to Step 6.

STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
(1) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch and OFF, and then leave it in the OFF for more than 10 seconds. Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch again.
(2) After the MFI-DTC has been deleted, read the MFI-DTC again.
(3) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
Is DTC P2530 set?
Go to Step 5.
It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent. Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions .

STEP 5. Replace the ETACS-ECU.
(1) Replace the ETACS-ECU.
(2) Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch and OFF, and then leave it in the OFF for more than 10 seconds. Turn on the power supply mode of the electric motor switch again.
(3) After the DTC has been deleted, read the DTC again.
(4) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
Is DTC P2530 set?
Replace the ECM (Refer to Removal and Installation ). Then go to Step 6.
The inspection is complete.

STEP 6.
(2) After the DTC has been deleted, read the DTC again.
(3) Turn off the power supply mode of the electric motor switch.
Is DTC P2530 set?
Retry the troubleshooting.
The inspection is complete.
