Inspection Procedure 2: The USB adapter data cannot be replayed.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the hands free module, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal. Check that the USB memory device or iPod® is also normal.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
If the sound replay is impossible with the USB mode, USB cable, hands free module, or radio and CD player may be defective, or a communication error between the radio and CD player and hands free module may have occurred.
noteBefore troubleshooting, check that the music file (the customer tried to replay) can be replayed.
 
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The radio and CD player may be defective
  • The hands free module may be defective
  • The USB cable may be defective
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
 
 
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Check the radio and CD player operation.
Check if the radio and CD player normally and the sound is output.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Troubleshoot the radio and CD player. (Refer to .)
 
STEP 2. Check the diagnosis mode
Check if the hands free module can be switched to the diagnosis mode. (Refer to <Vehicles with 1CD audio> or <Vehicles with display audio>.)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Perform Inspection Procedure 5 "DIAGNOSIS MODE cannot be made an entry." (Refer to .)
 
STEP 3. Check the USB cable.
Check that the USB cable is connected to the USB adapter or hands free module normally. Or check that the continuity exists between the front side terminals of USB cable and rear side terminals of USB cable. (Refer to .)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace or repair the USB cable.
 
STEP 4. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in AAL+, AAR+ line between hands free module connector and radio and CD player connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 5. Replace the hands free module temporarily, and check the trouble symptom.
Replace the hands free module temporarily, and check that the sound is output from the speaker.
Is the check result normal?
Replace the hands free module.
Replace the radio and CD player.
