DTC B2352: Antenna fail

cautionWhen replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.

DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
ETACS-ECU sets DTC No. B2352 when open or short circuit to the ground in the antenna at the key reminder switch is detected.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT
When during the transponder communication, the antenna at the key reminder switch (immobilizer antenna) malfunction is found, ETACS-ECU determines that the abnormality is present.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The key reminder switch (open circuit of immobilizer antenna) may be defective
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
  • The receiver antenna may be defective
  • The ETACS-ECU may be defective

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check data list.
Check the ETACS-ECU data list.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "How to connect Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III) ."
(2) Check the input signals from the Key reminder switch.
  • Turn the ignition switch to the OFF (key inserted) position.

OK: Normal condition is displayed.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Refer to GROUP 54A - Inspection Procedure 3: "Key reminder switch signal is not received ."

STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the receiver antenna connector (ANTP, ANTG terminal).
(1) Disconnect the connector and measure the resistance at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the receiver antenna connector (ANTP terminal) and receiver antenna connector (ANTG terminal).
OK: The resistance should be 14 ohms or less
(3) Measure the resistance between the receiver antenna connector (ANTP terminal) and ground.
OK: No continuity (1 kΩ or more)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of open circuit and short to ground in ANTP, ANTG line between receiver antenna connector and key reminder switch connector.
Is the check result normal?
Replace key reminder switch (Immobilizer antenna).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Remove the ignition key from the cylinder and then insert the ignition key again.
(3) After 10 seconds later from inserting the key, then turn the ignition ON.
(4) Check if the DTC is set?
Is the DTC set?
Replace receiver antenna. Then go to Step 5.
There is an intermittent malfunction such as poor engaged connector(s) or open circuit (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 5. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code.
Recheck if the DTC is set.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Remove the ignition key from the cylinder and then insert the ignition key again.
(3) After 10 seconds later from inserting the key, then turn the ignition ON.
(4) Check if the DTC is set?
Is the DTC set?
Replace ETACS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to ).
The diagnosis is complete.
