DTC B2501: Rear view camera fault
 
 
 
 
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
If signal from the rear-view camera cannot be received for 5 seconds or more, the camera-ECU sets DTC No. B2501.
noteWhen DTC No. B2501 is set, the segment, which corresponds to a defective camera, is displayed in blue.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The rear-view camera may be defective
  • The camera-ECU may be defective
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB991223: Harness Set
  • MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Check the wiring harness between rear-view camera connector and camera-ECU connector.
Check the following.
  • Check of open circuit in ACCR line.
  • Check of open circuit in GNDR line.
  • Check of open or short circuit in VRV line.
  • Check of open circuit in SVRV line.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 2. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code.
Check again if the DTC is set in the camera-ECU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
(3) Check if DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Go to Step 3.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
 
STEP 3. Check the rear-view camera.
Use an oscilloscope to check the output waveform of the rear-view camera (Refer to ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the rear-view camera (Refer to ).
 
STEP 4. Recheck for diagnostic trouble code.
Check again if the DTC is set in the camera-ECU.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
(3) Check if DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the camera-ECU (Refer to ).
