DTC B1E2D Front wiper auto stop switch
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
TROUBLE JUDGMENT
The ETACS-ECU will set DTC No. B1E2D when the windshield wiper auto-stop relay circuit fails.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
DTC No. B1E2D will be set when the ETACS-ECU detects that all of the following conditions are satisfied.
  • Wiper switch: LO or HI
  • The windshield wiper auto-stop relay inside the ETACS-ECU remains off or on for at least three seconds.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of windshield wiper motor
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
  • The ETACS-ECU may be defective
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
  • MB991223: Harness set
STEP 1. Check the windshield wiper motor.
Check that the windshield wiper motor works normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Replace the windshield wiper motor.
 
STEP 2. Check of short to power supply circuit, short to ground circuit in W.AS line between the windshield wiper motor connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check whether the DTC is set again.
Check again if DTC No.B1E2D is set in the ETACS-ECU.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to GROUP 54A - Diagnostic Function, "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III) ."
(2) Erase the DTC.
(3) Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
(4) Turn the wiper switch to the LO or HI position and hold it for at least three seconds.
(5) Check if DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
