DTC B1145 ESL drive circuit fail
DTC B1152 ESL drive circuit fail(ESL)

cautionWhen replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
When an error is detected to the driving circuit of electric steering lock, OSS-ECU stores the DTC B1145 and B1152. At the same time, OSS-ECU displays the immobilizer certification system inspection warning screen to the multi information display of the combination meter.

DTC SET CONDITION
Check Conditions
  • At electric steering lock certification
Judgment Criterion
  • Abnormal signal is received from the electric steering lock.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINT
  • Damaged wiring harness or connector (open circuit or short to ground in PCK line)
  • Electric steering lock malfunction
  • Malfunction of KOS-ECU
  • Malfunction of OSS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check other system diagnostic trouble code.
(1)
cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (MB991958), always turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (MB991958).
Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to "How to connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III) ."
(2) After performing the forced power supply output (refer to forced power supply output procedure ) "IG-ON".
(3) Check if any DTC is stored in the KOS-ECU.
(4) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to OFF.
Is the DTC stored?
Diagnose the KOS. Refer to .
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check of short to power supply, short of ground and open circuit in PCK line between KOS-ECU connector and OSS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3. After performing the locking and unlocking operations of the electric steering lock, recheck the diagnostic trouble code.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from OFF to ON.
(3) Check if DTC is stored.
(4) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from ON to OFF.
Is the DTC stored?
Replace the electric steering lock and register the VIN (Refer to ). Then go to Step 4.
Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 4. Check whether the diagnostic trouble code is stored again.
(1) Erase the DTC.
(2) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from OFF to ON.
(3) Check if DTC is stored.
(4) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from ON to OFF.
Is the DTC stored?
Replace the OSS-ECU and register the VIN (Refer to ).
The diagnosis is complete.
