Inspection Procedure 10: The coming home light function does not work normally.

  • Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
When the coming home light function does not operate normally, the keyless entry system or the ETACS-ECU may have a problem. Or, the coming home light function may have been set to disabled using the customization function.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • The keyless entry system may be defective
  • The ETACS-ECU may be defective
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the customization function.
Use the ETACS-ECU customization function to check that any one of the followings other than "Disabled" is set for "Coming home light" with a customization function.
  • 15 sec.
  • 30 sec.
  • 60 sec.
  • 180 sec.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect the scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ."
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3) Use the ETACS-ECU configuration function to check that the "Coming home light" is set to "Disabled"
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Set "Coming home light" to any one other than "Disabled" with a customize function (Refer to ).
 
STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), read the DTC.
Check if DTC is set in the ETACS-ECU.
Is the DTC set?
Troubleshoot the ETACS-ECU (Refer to ).
Go to Step 3.
 
STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.
Using the ETACS-ECU data list, check the ignition switch signal.
  • Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Troubleshoot the ETACS-ECU (Refer to Inspection Procedure 2 "The ignition switch (IG1) signal is not received" ).
 
STEP 4. Check the headlights.
When the lighting switch is operated, check that the headlights illuminate/go off normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Troubleshoot the headlights (Refer to trouble symptom chart ).
 
STEP 5. Retest the system.
The coming home light function should work normally.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
