THE FUEL FILLER LID LOCK UNLOCKING OPERATION DOES NOT WORK.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, be sure to check that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit, and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
COMMENTS REGARDING FAULT PHENOMENA
If the fuel filler lid lock unlocking operation does not work, there is a possibility of a fault in the harness or connector, a fault in the fuel filler lid opener switch, a fault in the fuel filler lid release actuator, or a fault in the engine ECU.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Faulty harness or connector
  • Faulty installation of the fuel filler lid
  • Faulty fuel filler lid opener switch
  • Faulty fuel filler lid release actuator
  • Faulty engine ECU
note“Refueling system inspection” will be displayed on the combination meter display and the fuel filler lid may not open if you try to open the fuel filler lid during an over-fueling condition*, but this is not a malfunction.
*: When fuel is repeatedly added (topped off) after the refueling nozzle automatically stops.
 
 
1.SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-IIISE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE
Is the diagnostic trouble code output?
Perform troubleshooting of the engine (refer to INSPECTION CHART FOR TROUBLE SYMPTOMSTROUBLESHOOTING STRATEGY).
 
2.EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM MONITOR TEST
Perform a evaporative emission control system leak monitor test (refer to EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM MONITOR TEST EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM MONITOR TEST).
Is the inspection result normal?
Troubleshoot the diagnostic trouble codes related to the items displayed as “Abnormal” in the data list.
 
3.SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-IIISE) SERVICE DATA
Inspect the following service data of the engine ECU.
Is the inspection result normal?
It is possibly a transient fault. (Refer to Guidelines for Troubleshooting and Inspection, and Action for Transient Faults HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS)
Perform troubleshooting of the engine ECU. (Refer to “Fuel filler lid open switch signal is not input”.TROUBLESHOOTING STRATEGY )
