EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM MONITOR TEST

Required Special Tools:

MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long

1. Confirm that the fuel level is 85% or lower.

2. Set the engine to cold state. If the engine has been warmed up, leave it until the engine cools down.

caution

While the scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) is communicating with the vehicle, the electric motor switch may not be turned off and no normally. Therefore, when you turn off the electric motor switch for that communication, wait for several seconds and then turn on it again (do not turn on it immediately).
To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE), always turn the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE).

3. After the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is OFF, connect the scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE) to the data link connector.

4. Depress the brake pedal, and turn on (READY) the power supply mode of the electric motor switch. (engine stopped)

5. Erase the diagnostic trouble codes using scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE).

6. To confirm the fuel cap, press the fuel filler lid opener switch and open the fuel filler lid.

7. Check that the fuel cap is securely closed (Tighten until three clicks are heard).

8. Close the fuel filler lid.

9. Set the vehicle to the EV mode.

10. Select “ENGINE” from the system selection screen of the scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE).

11. Select “Special function” from the Engine screen.

12. Select "Evap Leak Monitor" from Special Function Screen.

13. Select the "OK" button.

note	During the monitor, Keep the power supply mode of the electric motor switch ON (READY) and do not run the engine. Monitor is completed in maximum 22 minutes.

14. When "Completed. Please check result by service data." is displayed, check all the data list displayed on the screen.

note	If an error message is displayed, once turn the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF, make sure that the engine is cold state, READY and stop the engine, then perform the monitor again.

15. If there is a "Abnormal" indication in the data list, carry out the diagnostic trouble code procedures related to the item with Abnormal displayed.

16. Turn the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF.

17. Disconnect scan tool (M.U.T.-III SE).
