Diagnosis Procedure
cautionDo not check between the harness connector terminals of the wheel sensor.
1.CHECK TIRE
Check the tire air pressure, wear and size. Refer to Tire Air Pressure.
Is the inspection result normal?
Adjust air pressure or replace rear the tire.
 
2.CHECK DATA MONITOR (1)
M.U.T.-IIISE
  1. Erase the DTC set in "ABS".
  2. Change the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF) → ON → OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  3. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
  4. Select "ABS" and "Data List", check "FR LH wheel speed", "FR RH wheel speed", "RR LH wheel speed", and "RR RH wheel speed".
    noteSet the "Data List" recording speed to "10 msec".
  5. Read a value (wheel speed) of all wheel sensor.
    noteVehicle must be driven after repair or replacement to erase the previous DTCs.
Note the difference at 50 km/h (31 MPH) between the rear left wheel sensor and the maximum/minimum wheel speed detected by the other rear left wheel sensor, is the difference within 5%, respectively?
 
3.PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (1)
M.U.T.-IIISE
  1. Stop the vehicle.
  2. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  3. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
    noteWait at least 10 seconds after change the electric motor switch to ON,
  4. Perform Diagnostic Trouble Code for “ABS".
Is DTC "C106A-62" detected?
INSPECTION END
 
4.CHECK ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT) POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
Check the power supply circuit and ground circuit of the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.
Is the inspection result normal?
Repair / replace harness, connector, terminal, fuse, or fusible link.
 
5.CHECK WHEEL SENSOR AND SENSOR ROTOR
  1. Disconnect 12V battery negative terminal.
  2. Disconnect the wheel sensor harness connector.
  3. Remove dust and foreign matter adhered to the rear left wheel sensor and rear left sensor rotor with a vacuum dust collector through the rear left wheel sensor mounting hole.
    cautionInstall wheel sensor with no backlash and float, and tighten the mounting bolt to the specified torque.

6.CHECK WHEEL SENSOR
Check if the wheel sensor is damaged.
Is the inspection result normal?
 
7.REPLACE WHEEL SENSOR (1)

  1. Repalce the wheel sensor.
  2. Connect the battery negative terminal.
  3. Erase the DTC set in "ABS".
  4. Change the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF) → ON → OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  5. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
  6. Select "ABS" and "Data List", check "FR LH wheel speed", "FR RH wheel speed", "RR LH wheel speed", and "RR RH wheel speed".
    noteSet the "Data List" recording speed to "10 msec".
  7. Read a value (wheel speed) of all wheel sensor.
    noteVehicle must be driven after repair or replacement to erase the previous DTCs.

8.PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (2)

  3. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
    noteWait at least 10 seconds after change the electric motor switch to ON,
  4. Perform Diagnostic Trouble Code for “ABS".
Is DTC "C106A-62" detected?
INSPECTION END
 
9.CHECK CONNECTOR
  1. Disconnect 12V battery negative terminal.
  2. Check if there is open circuit or looseness in the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.
  3. Check if there is open circuit or looseness in the wheel sensor harness connector.
Is the inspection result normal?
Repair / replace harness or connector, securely lock the connector.
 
10.CHECK DATA MONITOR (2)

  1. Connect the battery negative terminal.
  2. Erase the DTC set in "ABS".
  3. Change the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF) → ON → OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  4. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
  5. Select "ABS" and "Data List", check "FR LH wheel speed", "FR RH wheel speed", "RR LH wheel speed", and "RR RH wheel speed".
    noteSet the "Data List" recording speed to "10 msec".
  6. Read a value (wheel speed) of all wheel sensor.
    noteVehicle must be driven after repair or replacement to erase the previous DTCs.

  1. Stop the vehicle.
  2. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  3. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
    noteWait at least 10 seconds after change the electric motor switch to ON,
  4. Perform Diagnostic Trouble Code for “ABS".
Is DTC "C106A-62" detected?

12.CHECKING TERMINAL
  1. Disconnect 12V battery negative terminal.
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness connector of the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit), and check that there is no damage on the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) terminals, and check that the wiring harness connector is properly connected.
  3. Disconnect the wiring harness connector of the wheel sensor, and check that there is no damage on the wheel sensor terminals, and check that the wiring harness connector is properly connected.
Is the inspection result normal?
Repair / replace harness, connector or terminal.
 
13.CHECK DATA MONITOR (3)

  1. Connect the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.
  2. Connect the wheel sensor harness connector.
  3. Connect the battery negative terminal.
  4. Erase the DTC set in "ABS".
  5. Change the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF) → ON → OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  6. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
  7. Select "ABS" and "Data List", check "FR LH wheel speed", "FR RH wheel speed", "RR LH wheel speed", and "RR RH wheel speed".
    noteSet the "Data List" recording speed to "10 msec".
  8. Read a value (wheel speed) of all wheel sensor.
    noteVehicle must be driven after repair or replacement to erase the previous DTCs.

14.PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (4)

  3. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)

  4. Perform Diagnostic Trouble Code for “ABS".
Is DTC "C106A-62" detected?

15.CHECK WHEEL SENSOR HARNESS
  1. Disconnect 12V battery negative terminal.
  2. Disconnect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.
  3. Disconnect the wheel sensor harness connector.
  4. Check the continuity of the wiring harness betweem ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector and FR LH wheel sensor harness connector (Rotate the steering wheel to the left and right, and move the center wiring harness in the wheel housing to check the continuity) .

  5. Check the continuity between the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector and ground.

Repair / replace harness or connector.
 
16.CHECK DATA MONITOR (4)

  1. Connect the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.
  2. Connect the wheel sensor harness connector.
  3. Connect the battery negative terminal.
  4. Erase the DTC set in "ABS".
  5. Change the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF) → ON → OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  6. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
  7. Select "ABS" and "Data List", check "FR LH wheel speed", "FR RH wheel speed", "RR LH wheel speed", and "RR RH wheel speed".
    noteSet the "Data List" recording speed to "10 msec".
  8. Read a value (wheel speed) of all wheel sensor.
    noteVehicle must be driven after repair or replacement to erase the previous DTCs.

18.REAPLCE WHEEL SENSOR (2)
M.U.T.-IIISE
  1. Disconnect 12V battery negative terminal.
  2. Replace the FR LH wheel sensor.
  3. Connect the battery negative terminal.
  4. Erase the DTC set in "ABS".
  5. Change the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF) → ON → OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  6. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
  7. Select "ABS" and "Data List", check "FR LH wheel speed", "FR RH wheel speed", "RR LH wheel speed", and "RR RH wheel speed".
    noteSet the "Data List" recording speed to "10 msec".
  8. Read a value (wheel speed) of all wheel sensor.
    noteVehicle must be driven after repair or replacement to erase the previous DTCs.

20.REPLACE SENSOR ROTOR
M.U.T.-IIISE
  1. Disconnect 12V battery negative terminal.
  2. Replace the FR LH sensor rotor.
  3. Connect the battery negative terminal.
  4. Erase the DTC set in "ABS".
  5. Change the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF) → ON → OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  6. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
  7. Drive the vehicle at approximately 50 km/h or more for approximately 2 minutes.
    noteVehicle must be driven after repair or replacement to erase the previous DTCs.
  8. Stop the vehicle.
  9. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF (Auto ACC function OFF).
  10. Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON (READY indicator: ON)
    noteWait at least 10 seconds after change the electric motor switch to ON,
  11. Perform Diagnostic Trouble Code for “ABS".
Is DTC "C106A-62" detected?
Replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to Removal and Installation.
