COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the normal charging does not start and the EV charger light (charging indicator) does not flash after it illuminates in green when the charger is connected to the domestic power supply, the malfunction of the EV home & quick charger cable, normal charging cable, EV charger light (charging indicator) system or PHEV-ECU is suspected.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors
  • Malfunction of the EV home & quick charger cable
  • Malfunction of the normal charging cable
  • Malfunction of the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter
noteThe trouble may occur due to the following factors.
• The drive battery is fully charged.
• Malfunction of the external power supply equipment.

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
  • MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
1.Check indicator on control box of normal charging cable.
Check the indicator on the control box of the normal charging cable (Refer to TROUBLE SYMPTOM CHART).
Is the check result normal?
Perform the corrective action according to the control box indicator.

2.Check of the normal charging cable.
Check the normal charging cable (Refer to CHARGING CABLE CHECK).
Is the check result normal?
Replace the normal charging cable.

3.Visually check of the normal charge port
Check that there is no looseness on the normal charge port terminals, and water drain hole is not clogged.
Is the check result normal?
Repair the faulty part.

4.M.U.T.-IIISE data list
Check the following On Board Charger (OBC) data list.
  • Item No. 280: PLT DUTY
OK: 8% or more (while the normal charge connector is connected)
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS) .

5.Check of open circuit between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter and normal charge port connector (GND line).
Check the following wiring harness for open circuit.
  • Open circuit between the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (GND terminal) and normal charge port
  • Open circuit between the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (GND terminal) and body ground
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness, or replace the EV home & quick charger cable.

6.Check of short to ground circuit and open circuit between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter and normal charge port connector (pilot signal line).
Check the following wiring harness for open circuit.
  • Open circuit between the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (No. 11 terminal) and normal charge port connector (No. 3 terminal).
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness, or replace the EV home & quick charger cable.

7.Retest the system.
Does the trouble symptom persist?
Repalce the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter (Refer to ON BOARD CHARGER (OBC) &DC-DC CONVERTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
Replace the normal charging cable.
