DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
  • MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
1.Check of the wiring harness between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter and junction box (quick charging contactor P, N drive line)
(1) Disconnect the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (B532), and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON (READY indicator: OFF).
(3) Measure the voltage between the following terminals.
  • Voltage between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (No. 8 terminal) and body ground
  • Voltage between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector(No. 1 terminal) and body ground
OK: 1 V or less
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

2.Check of the quick charging contactor P/N drive circuit
(1) Disconnect the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (B532), and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the following terminals.
  • Resistance between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (No. 8 terminal) and body ground
  • Resistance between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter connector (No. 1 terminal) and body ground
OK: 32 to 40 Ω [at 23°C (73°F)]
Is the check result normal?

3.Check of the quick charging contactor
danger
  • Carry out the check on the high-voltage circuit while reading carefully the precautions on handling a high-voltage vehicle.
  • Wear the specified protection equipment during the check.
Check the quick charging contactor (Refer to QUICK CHARGING CONTACTOR CHECK).
Is the check result normal?
Replace the quick charging contactor.

4.Check of the wiring harness between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter and body ground (quick charging contactor P, N ground line)
danger
  • Carry out the check on the high-voltage circuit while reading carefully the precautions on handling a high-voltage vehicle.
  • Wear the specified protection equipment during the check.
Check the following wiring harness for open circuit.
  • Open circuit between junction box connector (B534) (No. 2 terminal) and body ground
  • Open circuit between junction box connector (B534) (No. 1 terminal) and body ground
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

5.Check of the wiring harness between On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter and junction box (quick charging contactor P, N drive line)
danger
  • Carry out the check on the high-voltage circuit while reading carefully the precautions on handling a high-voltage vehicle.
  • Wear the specified protection equipment during the check.
Check the following wiring harness for short to ground circuit and open circuit.
  • Open circuit between junction box connector (B534) (No. 2 terminal) and body ground
  • Open circuit between junction box connector (B534) (No. 1 terminal) and body ground
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

6.Check whether the DTC is set again.
(1) Erase the set DTC.
(2) Perform quick charging (external power supplly).
(3) Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Repalce the On Board Charger (OBC)/DC-DC converter (Refer to ON BOARD CHARGER (OBC) &DC-DC CONVERTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS).
