Check Condition
  • The PHEV-ECU power supply voltage is 8.0 volts or more for 5 seconds.
  • The power supply mode of the electric motor switch is ON
Judgment Criterion
  • The communication status between the PHEV-ECU and radiator fan (RH) is in Fail condition for 2 seconds or more.

  • Malfunction of the LIN bus line (LIN2)
  • Malfunction of the blower assembly [radiator fan (RH)]
  • Malfunction of the blower assembly [radiator fan (RH)] power supply circuit
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
  • MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
1.Check of continuity at radiator fan (RH) connector (ground terminal)
(1) Disconnect the radiator fan (RH) connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Check the continuity between the radiator fan (RH) connector (ground terminal) and body ground.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness in ground line between the radiator fan (RH) connector and body ground. Then,
 
2.Voltage measurement at radiator fan (RH) connector (power supply terminal)
(1) Disconnect the radiator fan (RH) connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to ON (READY indicator: OFF).
(3) Measure the voltage between the radiator fan (RH) connector (power supply terminal) and body ground.
OK: Battery voltage
Is the check result normal?
Repair the faulty part in power supply line between the radiator fan (RH) connector and fusible link. Then,
 
3.Check wiring harness and connectors for damage.
Check the wiring harness and connectors in LIN2 line between PHEV-ECU connector and radiator fan (RH) connector for damage.
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness. Then,
 
4.Check of short to ground circuit and open circuit in LIN2 line between PHEV-ECU and radiator fan (RH)
Is the check result normal?
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness. Then,
 
5.Test the OBD-II drive cycle.
(1) Carry out a test drive with the drive cycle pattern. Refer to OBD-II Drive Cycle OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE.
(2) Check the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the blower assembly (Refer to Engine Cooling – Radiator RADIATOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION), then go to .
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS).
 
6.Test the OBD-II drive cycle.
(1) Carry out a test drive with the drive cycle pattern. Refer to OBD-II Drive Cycle OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE.
(2) Check the DTC.

Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to PHEV-ECU REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION). Then,

7.Test the OBD-II drive cycle.

Retry the troubleshooting.
