DTC No. P0A0F-00 Engine Failed to Start
noteThe DTC No. P0A0F-00 may be set when the vehicle is in the following conditions and the engine can not be started.
  • The temperature of the power drive unit related component (motor, generator) is high.
  • The temperature of the drive battery is extremely low.
  • The fuel gauge fails and the fuel is empty.
 
 
 
 
DTC SET CONDITION
Check Condition
  • During engine starting request
Judgment Criterion
  • The engine can not be started for 25.5 seconds or more.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of the engine control module (ECM) system
  • Malfunction of the power drive unit system
  • Malfunction of the clutch
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
  • MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
  • MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
  • MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
  • MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
1.M.U.T.-IIISE other DTC
Check whether the PHEV-ECU sets the DTC related to clutch.
Is the DTC set?
Troubleshoot the set DTC (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART).
 
2.M.U.T.-IIISE other system DTC
Check whether the power drive unit sets the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Troubleshoot the set DTC [Refer to Electric Motor Control Unit (EMCU) and Motor (Electric Motor Unit) - Troubleshooting DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART].
 
3.M.U.T.-IIISE other system DTC
Check whether the engine control module (ECM) sets the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Troubleshoot the set DTC [Refer to Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) - Troubleshooting DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART].
 
4.Check whether the DTC is set again.
(1) Erase the set DTC.
(2) Change the drive mode to the battery charge mode (the mode can be selected when SOC is 90% or less).
(3) Check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Perform the "Starting" inspection in the inspection chart for trouble symptoms of the engine control module (ECM) [Refer to Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) - Troubleshooting DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART].
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to General Information - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS).
