DTC Diagnosis Procedure
1.CHECK DTC PRIORITY
If DTCP0340 is displayed with DTC P06B0 or P06B3, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC P06B0 or P06B3.
Is applicable DTC detected?
Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to DTC Description.

2.CHECK STARTING SYSTEM
Turn ignition switch to START position.
Does the engine turn over? Does the starter motor operate?
GO TO 3.
Check starting system. Refer to Work Flow.
 
3.CHECK INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR POWER SUPPLY
  1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
  2. Disconnect intake camshaft position (CMP) sensor (PHASE) harness connector.
  3. Turn ignition switch ON.
  4. Check the voltage between intake CMP sensor (PHASE) harness connector terminals.

Is the inspection result normal?

4.CHECK INTAKE CMP SENSOR (PHASE) POWER SUPPLY-2
Check the voltage between intake CMP sensor (PHASE) harness connector and ground.

5.CHECK INTAKE CMP SENSOR (PHASE) POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
  1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
  2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
  3. Check the continuity between intake CMP sensor (PHASE) harness connector and ECM harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?
GO TO 6Work Flow.
Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
 
6.CHECK INTAKE CMP SENSOR (PHASE) GROUND CIRCUIT
  1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
  2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
  3. Check the continuity between intake CMP sensor (PHASE) harness connector and ECM harness connector.

  4. Also check harness for short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?

Repair or replace error-detected parts.
 
7.CHECK ECM GROUND CIRCUIT
  1. Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and ground.

  2. Also check harness for short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
INSPECTION END
Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
 
8.CHECK INTAKE CMP SENSOR (PHASE) INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT
  1. Check the continuity between intake CMP sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.

  2. Also check harness for short to ground and to power.
Is the inspection result normal?

Repair or replace malfunctioning part..
 
9.CHECK INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (PHASE)
Refer to Component InspectionComponent Inspection (Camshaft position sensor).
Is the inspection result normal?
.
Replace intake camshaft position sensor (PHASE). Refer to Removal and Installation.
 
10.CHECK CAMSHAFT (INT)
Check the following.
  • Accumulation of debris to the signal plate of camshaft rear end
  • Chipping signal plate of camshaft rear end
Is the inspection result normal?
INSPECTION END
Remove debris and clean the signal plate of camshaft rear end or replace camshaft. Refer to Removal and Installation.
