Inspection Procedure 11: KOS timer lock function does not work.
 
 
cautionBefore replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
 
 
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
After the door is unlocked using the keyless entry function or the door entry function, if no operation is performed, the door is locked when the time specified by a customization function has elapsed. However, when an open signal of any of the doors is received by ETACS-ECU or when the engine switch power supply mode is ON, the KOS timer lock function will not be activated.
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of ETACS-ECU
  • Malfunction of the door switches
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the customize function.
Check that either of the followings other than "0sec" is set for "F.A.S.T. unlock disable time" with the customization function.
  • 3sec
  • 5sec
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Set either of the followings other than "F.A.S.T. unlock disable time" with the customization function (Refer to ).
 
STEP 2. Check the door entry function operation
Check that the door entry function operation normally.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Refer to trouble symptom chart .
 
STEP 3. Using scan tool MB991958, read the diagnostic trouble code.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to "How to connect scan too (M.U.T.-III) ."
(2) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to ON.
(3) Check whether the KOS-ECU related DTC is set.
(4) Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to OFF.
Is the DTC set?
Diagnose the KOS-ECU. Refer to diagnostic trouble code chart .
Go to Step 4.
 
STEP 4. Check of the troubles
Check that the KOS timer lock function operates.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points ).
Perform troubleshooting for each door switch (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS - Troubleshooting ).
