STEP 1. Checking keyless entry system operation
STEP 2. Using scan tool MB991958, read the diagnostic trouble code.
(1) caution | To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958. |
Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to GROUP 42B, "How to connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III)
."
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3) Check whether the ETACS-ECU related DTC is set.
(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Is the DTC set?
Diagnose the ETACS-ECU. Refer to GROUP 54A, Diagnostic trouble code chart . Go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Using scan tool MB991958, check data list.
Check the signals related to the central door locking system operation.(1) caution | To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958. |
Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to GROUP 42B, "How to connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III)
."
(2) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3) Check the data list of the ETACS.- Turn the door lock switch of the power window main switch (or front power window sub switch) to the lock direction.

- Turn the door lock switch of the power window main switch (or front power window sub switch) to the unlock direction.

(4) Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.OK: Normal conditions are displayed for all items.
Are the check result normal?
Go to Step 4. Refer to GROUP 54A - Inspection procedure 4 "The Driver’s door lock actuator switch signal is not sent to the ETACS-ECU ."
STEP 4. Connector check: C-408 ETACS-ECU connector
STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between C-408 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 2 and fusible link (37).
STEP 6. Check ETACS-ECU connector C-415 and C-411 for loose, corroded, damaged terminals or terminals pushed back in the connector.
STEP 7. Check power window main switch connector F-27 and front power window sub switch connector F-26 for loose, corroded, damaged terminals or terminals pushed back in the connector.
STEP 8. Check of the wiring harness between the C-415 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 15 and the F-27 power window main switch connector terminal No. 23, the C-411 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 2 and the F-27 power window main switch connector terminal No. 22
STEP 9. Check of the wiring harness between the C-415 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 15 and the F-26 front power window sub switch connector terminal No. 2, the C-411 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 2 and the F-26 front power window sub switch connector terminal No. 3
STEP 10. Retest the system.
Check that the central door locking system works normally.Is the check result normal?
No action is necessary and testing is complete. Replace the ETACS-ECU. Check that the central door locking system works normally.
