DTC P071C: Malfunction of Ds position switch (stuck OFF) <Vehicles without paddle shift>
DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
- P071B: The TCM detects that the Ds position switch is stuck to ON.
- P071C: The TCM detects that the Ds position switch is stuck to OFF.
DESCRIPTIONS OF MONITOR METHODS <P0 71B>
- The Ds position switch remains ON for 5 seconds when the transmission range switch is at "P", "R", or "N".
MONITOR EXECUTION <P071B>
- Voltage of battery: 9 volts or more.
- Voltage of battery: 16 volts or less.
- Transmission range switch position: P, R or N

Other Monitor (There is no temporary DTC set in memory for the item monitored below)
Sensor (The sensor below is determined to be normal)

Check Conditions
- Voltage of battery: 9 volts or more.
- Voltage of battery: 16 volts or less.
Judgment Criteria
- Ds position switch (when the transmission range switch is at "P", "R", or "N"): ON (5 seconds).
OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN <P071B>
Transmission range: D (Drive the vehicle for 10 seconds or more while the accelerator opening angle is 20% or more)

- The Ds position switch remains OFF for 5 seconds when the transmission range switch is at "L".
MONITOR EXECUTION <P071C>
- Voltage of battery: 9 volts or more.
- Voltage of battery: 16 volts or less.
- Transmission range switch position: L
- After the normal input of Ds range is performed.
