INSPECTION PROCEDURE 14: The A/C compressor does not stop. (cut in unintentionally)
cautionIf there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect diagnostic trouble code may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, always diagnose the CAN bus lines.
 
 
 
 
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
  • Malfunction of heater controller assembly (A/C-ECU)
  • The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Defective battery management unit (BMU)
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. The heater controller assembly (A/C-ECU) using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.

cautionTo prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), always turn the electric motor switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE).
Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE). Refer to "How to connect Scan Tool (M.U.T.-IIISE) ".
(2) Check that the following data list M.U.T.-IIISE display contents are normal (Refer to ).
Item No.200: Battery cooling request signal
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. The heater controller assembly (A/C-ECU) using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.
Check that the following data list M.U.T.-IIISE display contents are normal (Refer to ).
  • Item No.27: A/C compressor drive request
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Diagnose the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS, Diagnostic trouble code chart ) and PHEV-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54Da - PHEV-ECU, Diagnostic trouble code chart ).
 
STEP 3. The heater controller assembly (A/C-ECU) using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check data list.
Check that the following data list M.U.T.-IIISE display contents are normal (Refer to ).
  • Item No.172: BATT.cooling air thermo sensor
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Diagnose the battery management unit (BMU) [Refer to GROUP 54Dc - Battery management unit (BMU), DTC chart ].
 
STEP 4. Retest the system
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Replace the heater controller assembly (A/C-ECU) (Refer to ).
