Judgment Criterion
  • The output (B-terminal) voltage is lower or equal to the specified voltage.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • The output of the DC-DC converter continues.

PROBABLE CAUSE
  • Open circuit or harness damage in output (+B terminal) voltage circuit, or loose connector contact
  • The 12V starter battery is deteriorated (insufficient charge, overcharge).
  • The on board charger/DC-DC converter is failed.

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
STEP 1. 12V starter battery condition check
Is the installation status of the 12V starter battery terminal abnormal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair.

STEP 2. Check 12V starter battery
  • Check 12V starter battery (Refer to GROUP 54A - 12V Starter Battery - On-vehicle Service - Battery Test ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the 12V starter battery.

STEP 3. Perform the continuity check of the fuse between the on board charger/DC-DC converter (+B terminal) connector and the 12V starter battery.
  • Perform the continuity check of the fuse.
OK: Continuity
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the fuse (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - Inspection Service Points For A Blown Fuse ).

STEP 4. Check of open circuit and damage in +B line between on board charger/DC-DC converter connector and 12V starter battery.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the DTC is set again.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the on board charger/DC-DC converter (Refer to ).
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
