DESCRIPTIONS OF MONITOR METHODS <DTC P0A9C - P1ED0: BATT. TEMP. sensor rationality>
  • After the vehicle is parked, each temperature is expected to become close to the average battery temperature. Average battery temperature is the average of all 50 sensors.
  • Each temperature sensor signal is compared to the average battery temperature after 1 hour soak.

MONITOR EXECUTION <DTC P0A9C - P1ED0>
  • Once per driving cycle

MONITOR EXECUTION <DTC P0A9D - P1E88, P0A9E - P1E40>
  • Continuous

MONITOR EXECUTION CONDITIONS (Other monitor and Sensor)
Other Monitor (There is no DTC set in memory for the item monitored below)
  • Main drive lithium-ion battery cell temperature monitor
  • Battery CAN monitor
Sensor (The sensor below is determined to be normal)
  • Not applicable

DTC SET CONDITIONS
Logic Flow Chart <DTC P0A9C - P1ED0: BATT. TEMP. sensor rationality>
Check Conditions
  • battery management unit (BMU) power supply voltage is 8 volts to 16 volts.
  • Time after above conditions satisfy is less than 2 seconds.
  • The soaking time is more than 3,600 seconds.
  • The main drive lithium-ion battery temperature is --30°C (-22°F) to 60°C (140°F).
Judgment Criterion
  • The absolute value of the difference between the value of average main drive lithium-ion battery temperature and the value of the main drive lithium-ion battery module temperature changes to 13°C (55°F) or more and the state continues for 0.32 seconds.

Logic Flow Chart <DTC P0A9D - P1E88: BATT. TEMP. sensor short, DTC P0A9E - P1E40: BATT. TEMP. sensor open>
Check Conditions
  • battery management unit (BMU) power supply voltage is 8 volts to 16 volts.
  • Time after above conditions satisfy is more than 2 seconds.
Judgment Criterion <DTC P0A9D - P1E88>
  • Change of the main drive lithium-ion battery temperature sensor voltage is less than 0.12 volt [more than 125°C (257°F)] for 2 seconds.
Judgment Criterion <DTC P0A9E - P1E40>
  • Change of the main drive lithium-ion battery temperature sensor voltage is more than 3.97 volts [less than -62°C (-80°F)] for 2 seconds.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Test the OBD-II drive cycle.
(1) Carry out a test drive with the drive cycle pattern. Refer to OBD-II Drive Cycle - Pattern 3 . <DTC P0A9C - P1ED0>
(2) Carry out a test drive with the drive cycle pattern. Refer to OBD-II Drive Cycle - Pattern 1 . <DTC P0A9D - P1E88, P0A9E - P1E40>
(3) Check if the DTC is set.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the main drive lithium-ion battery (Refer to ) or CMU (Refer to ). Then, go to Step 2.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

STEP 2.
Retry the troubleshooting.
The procedure is complete.
