Check Conditions
  • When the driving mode is the series driving mode
  • When the cold strategy idle control status is ON
  • At the time of state with more than 7°C (45°F) Celsius of temperature of engine coolant at the time of the engine start.
  • At the time of state with less than 42°C (108°F) Celsius of temperature of engine coolant at the time of the engine start.
Judgment Criterion
  • When the target rotation speed of the generator is larger than 540 r/min (the target rotation speed of the engine is larger than 200 r/min), and when a state where the engine torque correction amount is within the specified range continues for 20 seconds.
  • When a state where the target rotation speed of the generator is less than -270 r/min (the target rotation speed of the engine is less than -100 r/min) continues for 20 seconds.

OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN
  • Refer to Diagnostic Function - OBD-II Drive Cycle - Pattern 13 .

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the MPI system.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check whether the other DTC is set.
Check whether DTC is set in ECM (Refer to GROUP 13A - Diagnosis Function ).
Is the DTC set?
Carry out troubleshooting for the DTC. (Refer to GROUP 13A - Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart ). Then go to Step 3.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Diagnosis of trouble symptom.
Perform the following diagnosis.
  • Inspection procedure 4: Starts up and dies (Refer to GROUP 13A - Trouble Shooting, Inspection Procedure 5: Hard Starting ).
  • Inspection procedure 5: Hard starting (Refer to GROUP 13A - Refer to GROUP 13A - Trouble Shooting, Inspection procedure 5: Hard starting ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Correct the defective it.

STEP 3. Test the OBD-II drive cycle.
(1) Carry out a test drive with the drive cycle pattern. Refer to Diagnostic Function - OBD-II Drive Cycle - Pattern 13 .
(2) Check the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ). Then go to Step 4.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 4. Test the OBD-II drive cycle.
(1) Carry out a test drive with the drive cycle pattern. Refer to Diagnostic Function - OBD-II Drive Cycle - Pattern 13 .
(2) Check the DTC.
Is the DTC set?
Retry the troubleshooting.
The inspection is complete.
