INSPECTION PROCEDURE 26: Modes display cannot be switched to EV priority mode by using the EV switch
 
 
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the EV priority mode cannot be switched by operating the EV switch, the EV switch or the PHEV-ECU is suspected.
 
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the EV switch
  • Damaged harness or connector
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU
 
 
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the data list. <PHEV-ECU>
Check that the following service data display contents are normal (Refer to ).
  • Item No.102: EV Switch
 
Check conditionNormal condition
The EV switch is pressedON
Other than aboveOFF
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. Check of short to ground, and open circuit in the signal line (PHEV-ECU and the EV switch).
Check the wiring harness between PHEV-ECU connector (terminal EV) and the EV switch connector (terminal No.2).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector or wiring harness.
 
STEP 3. Check of open circuit in the ground line (EV switch and body ground).
Check the wiring harness between EV switch connector (terminal No.5) and the body ground.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector or wiring harness.
 
STEP 4. Retest the system.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the EV switch (Refer to GROUP 52A - Front Floor Console Assembly ). Then go to Step 5.
 
STEP 5. Retest the system.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).
