INSPECTION PROCEDURE 21: Modes display cannot be switched by using the ECO mode switch
 
 
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the ECO mode cannot be switched by operating the ECO mode switch, the ECO mode switch or the PHEV-ECU is suspected.
 
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of the ECO mode switch
  • Damaged harness or connector
  • Malfunction of the PHEV-ECU
 
 
 
 
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools
  • MB991223: Wiring harness set
  • MB992006: Extra fine probe
STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-IIISE), check the data list. <PHEV-ECU>
Check that the following service data display contents are normal (Refer to ).
  • Item No.91: ECO mode SW
 
Check conditionNormal condition
The ECO mode switch is pressedON
Other than aboveOFF
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. Check of short to ground, and open circuit in the signal line (PHEV-ECU and the hazard indicator assembly).
Check the wiring harness between PHEV-ECU connector (terminal ECO) and the hazard indicator assembly connector (terminal No.2).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector or wiring harness.
 
STEP 3. Check of open circuit in the ground line (Hazard indicator assembly and body ground).
Check the wiring harness between hazard indicator assembly connector (terminal No.11) and the ground connector (terminal No.2).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector or wiring harness.
 
STEP 4. ECO mode switch check.
Refer to .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Replace the hazard indicator assembly (Refer to GROUP 54A - Hazard Warning Lamp Switch ).
 
STEP 5. Retest the system.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the PHEV-ECU (Refer to ).
